Ear infection

Well, I guess I'm spoiling the ending but as you can tell from the title, Callan has her first ear infection as well as her first sickness. I feel like we have been to the Dr. a lot during her 7 months (today, exactly) but mostly it was for the weight gain issues. Otherwise, she has been lucky to avoid any sickness. Anyway, she has had a runny nose since last Thursday. I even called the Dr. before going to lunch on Friday to make sure she wasn't contagious. We have been using the humidifier and putting Vick's VapoRub on her feet at night to try to manage the cold. She has also been snorty when breathing (yes, I know she is a snorty kind of kid anyway, but this is extra snorty). So today when I used the aspirator, my findings were green so I decided to call the doctor. The nurse asked me all kinds of questions about her symptoms, many of which I couldn't answer specifically. Does she have a cough? Well, she has recently developed an attention grabbing, look at me cough so I don't know if it is real or not. Is she fussy? Well, maybe a little but she is also teething so how do we know? Plus, Callan's fussy isn't anything compared to some other kids. She is still very calm while fussy so it is hard to even call her fussy. After the many questions, she told me that she would feel better if the Dr. saw her since the runny nose had been going on for a week and because of her age. So today, against my wishes, me and C went to the sick clinic for the first time to see Dr. Colvard. The whole time I was in there, I felt stupid for being there because she was in a great mood. I'm not sure I've ever seen her laugh that much. But they insisted we come so we did. He didn't do a whole lot but did look in her ears and after cleaning them out several times, decided she had an ear infection in her right ear. My heart just broke. Not only did I feel bad for Callan, but I felt bad because I hadn't acted on it sooner. I had never heard that a runny nose and fussiness could be an ear infection. But apparently it can be! So he gave her an antibiotic and sent us on our way. I scooped her up and held her tight and cuddled her extra special tonight before putting her down. I feel so bad for her! I'm just glad they made us come in so now we can fix the problem. He said if she wasn't better by Monday to call them back so that makes me feel good that it should be gone soon! I am impressed that we made it 7 months without any problems to amount to anything! Happy 7 month b'day C!

P.S. She weighs 12 lbs. 12 ounces. She gained 5 ounces in 16 days. Her younger, curvier cousin, Carley, weighs 10 lbs. 12 ounces. It seems as though Carley may be passing on clothes to Callan soon! The strawberry outfits that the girls were wearing in the post below...Callan wore the 3 month one in that picture (Carley wore the NB) and then we left the 3 month with Carley and she wore it the next day! Ha!

Catching up

It seems like so much has happened since my last post but now that I sit down to write about it, I can't remember everything. We have just recently gotten back from visiting Will's sister and family and our new niece, Carley, in Tampa. It was a great trip! We always enjoy spending time with Scott, Amy, Tyler, Taylor, Reagan, and Carley (the list is longer!) Will went to work 2 of the days so that was no fun for me, but I'm glad he could help Scott out with some of the orders. It really makes us realize how blessed he is to get to work at home. The twins spent time with friends and their aunt so we didn't see a whole lot of them. They are really growing up and I know they are soon going to be uninterested in hanging out with their aunt and uncle. We spent a lot of time with Reagan and Carley though. Reagan really loves Callan until he needs her out of the floor so he can play pretend baseball on the rug! Me and Amy took some fun pics of C and C in their matching strawberry sleepers and in their diapers and halloween hats. Very cute! We also took the girls to the mall where we realized how much life has truly changed as we tried to manage 2 small babies, pretzels, a cookie, shopping bags, strollers, and drinks! At least the food wasn't harmed!
We returned Tuesday to Bunco, lots of laundry and life full speed as always. Wednesday we went to the Nissan place to look at a Camry and ended up buying an Altima (Friday). We traded our Camry in and left with a silver Altima just like we had when we got married (before we started Dave Ramsey and sold the car to get out of debt). It is nice to be able to have a car like it again. We always did love the Altima...bullet is her new name!

Today is Saturday and after Upward soccer, Will flew with Dr. Wilson, Chad and another friend to the Alabama game. My mom came up to visit for the day and went with me and Callan to McGee Farms with several people from class. It was really fun! It was so neat to see how all of of our lives have changed with these sweet babies. The kids seemed to like it too! We got some cute pictures. Okay, everybody but me. Callan wasn't in the best mood. I was kind of frustrated because the whole time we were there she made that little snorty face (don't act like you haven't seen her do it 24/7). Then I finally realized, that is her face. She makes that face all the time so we need to cherish that funny face and know that it won't last long. I ended up getting 2 or 3 that I liked and I ordered some Halloween cards tonight. I'm excited to see them. Since we didn't get professional pics of her made, I am spending a little money on ordering holiday cards to send out.
This next week will be deep cleaning for Supper Club and finishing up making Callan's food for the next couple of weeks. We spent $40 on fruit at Wal-Mart (mostly for Callan) but soon I'm going to figure up how much money I'm saving by making my own and post it for you all to see! Have a good week!
